Little Girl Stops Bride on the Street Thinking She’s the Princess from her Book
One of the qualities that makes children such a joy to be around (most of the time … ) is their ability to be enchanted so easily, and this latest story is the perfect example. On a stroll through a Seattle neighborhood with her mother, a little girl had a chance meeting with none other than the princess from her favorite book, POPSUGAR Moms reports.
Well, she didn’t exactly see a princess, but the woman she encountered—stunning bride Shandace Lerma—sure looked like royalty in that wedding gown. At the time, Shandace and husband Scott Robertson were taking wedding pictures with photographer Stephanie Cristalli, who also took photos of the meeting. Stephanie told POPSUGAR Moms, “We were walking around taking photos and the little girl was just staring at the gorgeous bride. We stopped to acknowledge her and to say hi and then the beautiful series just happened.”
The look of amazement in the little girl’s eyes: priceless.
Scott later shared the photos on Reddit under the username Skizzotrobzface, writing, “My wife and I got married last February, and during the photo shoot this little girl and her mom happened to be walking by. The little girl thought my beautiful wife was the princess from her favorite book (the one she’s holding).”
And it’s not a simple fairytale the little girl was reading, either. According to a Reddit user who zoomed in on the book cover, the child was holding The Woman in White, by Wilkie Collins, a mystery novel that first appeared in 1859, which is pretty cool, considering the tiny reader looks to be about 2-years-old.
In one of the heartwarming photos, Shandace even hands the little girl a flower from her bouquet, and in another, she’s holding the little girl in her arms, staring happily into each other’s eyes.
In his post, Scott also asks if anyone knows who the mother in the photo is so he can share the photos with her, and soon after, he seemed to have found her.
Reddit user Kamble123 claimed to be the mom, writing, “We still talk about the beautiful princess we saw in Ballard. It was so sweet of you two stopping for her.” She also refers to Shandace as the Princess of Ballard, since Ballard is the Seattle neighborhood where they met. She adds, “My daughter carried that book everywhere with her that week, due to the lady on the cover. And then we saw the princess—dreams do come true.”
The couple enjoyed meeting the little girl, too. Scott tells POPSUGAR Moms, it was “the icing on the cake of an already perfect day. It just warmed my heart to see the beautiful reactions from both this little girl and my bride. My wife loves kids, so this was a very special moment for her.” Meanwhile, Shandace tells the site, “This is the feel-good story the world needs right now. In such uncertain times, it’s a reminder of the joy and love that still exists.”
